Frequently Asked Questions

Hemp, or industrial hemp, is defined by the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill as plants of the cannabis sativa species that contain ≤0.3% THC, meaning their extracts are non-psychoactive and legal.

Hemp is very sustainable and renewable.  It can be refined into countless commercial items, including food, paper, textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, animal feed, insulation, biofuel, and more.

As you navigate the CBD field and the different products available on the market, you will come across these terms which are used to describe CBD extracts. So what is the difference between them?

As we mentioned above, full-spectrum refers to CBD extracts containing all flavonoids, terpenoids, and other compounds found naturally in the hemp plant. Broad-Spectrum, on the other hand, is used to describe CBD extracts containing various, but not all, compounds found in hemp. Meanwhile, CBD isolate, as the name implies, refers to products formulated with pure CBD. These extracts contain no additional cannabinoids or other hemp compounds.

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a large network of receptors and transmitters found throughout our bodies responsible for regulating numerous systems and functions. Cannabinoids are compounds that interact with ECS receptors to promote homeostasis (balance) within these systems.

Hemp contains different types of cannabinoids. One of these cannabinoids found naturally in hemp is cannabidiol (CBD). CBD is known for its natural properties, which studies suggest, may help support overall wellness. As a result, thousands are turning to CBD products such as oils to help them lead a healthier, more active life in a completely natural way.

Hemp extracts are legal thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, which legalized hemp at the federal level. The bill, also known as the 2018 Agriculture Improvement Act, removed industrial hemp from the federal list of controlled substances and categorized the plant as an agricultural commodity. As a result, hemp-derived products are now available nationwide in the form of oils, edibles, and even topicals.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis plants such as hemp. However,  because industrial hemp contains less than 0.3% THC, extracts obtained from hemp will not get you high. As a result, all CBD products made with extracts from hemp are completely non-psychoactive

Whole-spectrum hemp extract contains CBD, along with numerous other cannabinoids. Also known as full-spectrum CBD, these extracts also contain flavonoids, terpenoids, and other compounds found naturally in the hemp plant.

Hemp compounds each offer benefits of their own while potentiating and enhancing the effects of the other compounds present to nurture the endocannabinoid system. This phenomenon is commonly referred to as the entourage effect

Our CBD extracts are obtained from our organic industrial hemp farms in North Carolina. Our extracts are then formulated into a wide variety of hemp products by our licensed pharmacists, who use the best methods and ingredients to make the most effective, highest-quality CBD products.

Because CBD interacts with the ECS system, which is responsible for various body functions, hemp oil uses vary from person to person.

So what does hemp oil do?

Depending on your individual wellness needs, CBD may be able to support muscle and joints, as well as help with stress levels and sleep cycles. However, there are many other uses and benefits associated with CBD. Check out our blogs to learn more.

If you are hesitating to try CBD, it might be because you are asking yourself one of the most common questions surrounding hemp extracts– “Does CBD show up in a drug test?”

While hemp is related to marijuana, drug tests check for high levels of THC in our blood, not CBD. So, if you’re taking CBD isolate, you have nothing to worry about. And while broad and full-spectrum extracts contain THC, most products containing these extracts (including ours) contain less than 0.3% THC– which is nowhere near enough to be detected by standard drug tests. That’s why, generally, if you are taking CBD extracted from hemp you will be in good shape.

Because CBD contains no THC, CBD products generally don’t produce any undesired side effects. While not typical, CBD oil side effects may include mild drowsiness in very rare cases.

If you are wondering how to use hemp oil for your wellness needs, you’ll be glad to learn that there is nothing complicated about it. CBD hemp oil can be taken orally or mixed into foods and drinks for easier consumption. And if oils aren’t your thing, you can try other CBD products like creams, gummies, and hemp oil capsules which offer a more straightforward method of using CBD.
